Alliance Roofing Journal | Low-slope roofs

Drainage is part of the roof system—not a detail to ignore.

Water has to move across the roof, through outlets, and away from the building without creating repeat stress at vulnerable details.

Ponding patterns

Recurring water patterns, debris around outlets, damaged strainers, staining, displaced components, or repeated leaks near drainage paths deserve documented review.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Drain condition

The visible symptom may involve maintenance, roof details, outlet capacity, slope, structural movement, or another condition. Field review should avoid diagnosing from one photograph.

PLANNING THE WORK

Interior evidence

Prepared by Alliance Roofing. Safe access and project-specific evaluation are required before recommending work.

PUT THE GUIDE TO WORK

Describe standing water without diagnosing from a photo.

Use this as a planning example, not a diagnosis or a description of a completed Alliance project.

01

Record timing

Note when rain ended and when the photograph or interior observation was made. A picture without timing gives an incomplete view.

02

Locate the concern

Identify the roof section using existing plans or records. Leave rooftop inspection, drain access and debris removal to appropriate personnel.

03

Ask the right question

Ask whether the concern calls for maintenance, further investigation or a drainage-design review. Do not assume a coating or a new covering alone changes the drainage.

MAKE YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION COUNT

Three questions worth asking.

You do not need to know every roofing term. These questions help you understand the recommendation before agreeing to the work.

Bring your questions to a free estimate →
  1. Where does water collect, and when was it observed?

  2. Is there an existing drainage plan or history of blockage?

  3. What further investigation is needed before changing drainage details?
